Jena Dollinger moved to Colorado when she was 4. Growing up Jena attended all APS schools and graduated from Aurora Central High School. Her love and passion for kids lead her to get a job at Clyde Miller P-8 right out of high school. After spending a year there, she then spent 8 years at Vaughn Elementary in the preschool program. She then moved to Wheeling Elementary, and this is her second year. Outside of work, Jena has 3 sons to keep her busy. They love outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and going to the park.
Christine Kruse moved to Colorado in 1964. She actually started second grade at Wheeling School when it was brand new and continued her education at APS graduating from Pickens Technical College in 1983 as a Licensed Practical Nurse and is still licensed in the State of Colorado. She worked off and on throughout the years at hospitals and assisted living homes. Her true passion in education started in 1983 at Tollgate Elementary School where she worked as a para until 1988 and continued to work in various other school districts throughout the years and is now at Wheeling where she began. She has one grandson and two more grandchildren on the way at the end of summer. When she is not working she loves playing with her two dogs, going to Bronco and Rockies games, reading non-fiction books and binge watching on Netflix.
Ashley Plummer was born in Minnesota, but moved to Denver from Montana. I am married and have a dog named Luna. In my free time I love to do arts and crafts, paint and play with my dog at the dog park. I started at APS as a substitute last year and fell in love with the job. I went to Montana State University Billings for my bachelors in fine arts.
Krysten Rodgers is a Colorado native, born and raised in Aurora and has lived here her entire life. Krysten left the state for the first time this year when she traveled to New York City for 27 hours. During free time Krysten enjoys spending time with family and her two children, hiking, BBQs, concerts, movies and trying new and exciting things such as sunrise hikes, sunset hikes and skydiving. Krysten has been in the district for 8 years and is excited to begin her second year here at Wheeling.
Renee Davis is a recent graduate of the University of Colorado Denver where she studied Music Performance, International Studies, and Political Science. In November 2018 Ms. Renee founded her own private music teaching studio. While teaching music, Ms. Renee realized that she has a passion for teaching kids. Ms. Renee's hope is to serve students as a positive role model and a source of constant encouragement and support. When Ms. Renee is not serving students she likes to write music, lead YoungLife teens, keep her eye on the political climate, and eat a lot of gelato. One of Ms. Renee's favorite quotes is by the esteemed poet and activist Dr. Maya Angelou, "When you get, give. When you learn, teach."
Kalyn Fong is from Littleton, CO. She studied Creative Writing, Education, and Communications at the University of Denver. She has worked at Wheeling for three years. In her spare time she likes to read poetry, paint, and go hiking.
Jesus Ortiz Moreno is from Cuidad Juarez, Chihuahua. He went to East High School and graduated in 2009. After High School moved to New Mexico to go to attend the University of New Mexico. There he Studied Early Childhood Education. He came back to Denver and started working with kids in a before and after school program. After that he worked at Lyn Knoll Elementary School as a Community Liaison. After spending a great year there, he moved to Wheeling Elementary. He became a soccer coach for the Colorado Rapids where he coached U9-U11. Some of his favorite things to do during his free time are: cheering for the Colorado Rockies. writing poetry and spray painting.
Qutishia Riley was born January 6th 1992 in Denver Colorado. She attended Hinkley High School, Home of the Thunderbirds, for her freshman and sophomore year. She continued her junior and senior year at Gateway High School, Home of the Olympians. She went to CSU-Pueblo for her first year of collrge but she returned home to help her family. Ms. Que then became the head trainer for Directv, and she moved to Atlanta GA when she was 21 years old to follow her dreams and find her calling. She returned to her home state of Colorado when she was 22 years old and and began working with children, where she figured out what she wanted to do in life, which was help kids become who they want to be, and also help kids reach their full potential in school. That dream brought Ms. Que to Wheeling Elementary School, Home of the Explorers, where she has been able to help kids for almost four years.
Sophia Rosales was born in Jerez, Zacatecas and moved to the US in 2007. Since then she has only lived in Aurora, Colorado., where she attended Wheeling from 2nd to 5th grade. She recently graduated from Gateway High School in May of 2019. She has decided to take a year off to figure out whether she will pursue a career as a teacher or a school psychologist. She can’t live without music and in her free time she enjoys drawing or hanging out with her family.
