Mahvush Ansar

Mahvush Ansar has moved around but for the past 20 years Colorado has been home for her. She has a Masters in Elementary Education from CU Denver. This is her second year as a Kindergarten teacher at Wheeling. Before teaching at Wheeling, she taught kindergarten at Adams 14 and in Dubai.  Her favorite part of teaching at Wheeling is the community and the school culture.  As an Explorer, she loves exploring different cultures and cuisines through travel and blogging .  When she is not teaching she is spending time travelling, hiking or fishing with her husband and three children.

Vanessa Abel was born and raised in Southern California. She earned her BA in Educational
Studies from Arizona State University in May, 2020. Vanessa is currently pursuing a Master’s
degree in Elementary Education and Teacher Licensure online from Grand Canyon University. In
2019, Vanessa traded the California Coast for the Rocky Mountains and moved to Colorado
with her family. In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors hiking, camping, or
exploring. She also loves to cook and play board games with her family. This is Vanessa’s first
year at Wheeling Elementary and she is thrilled to be a part of the learning adventure and apart
of the Explorer

Krisi Chartier

Krisi Chartier grew up right here in Aurora, Colorado and attended Wheeling as a child.  After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in American History with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education, she returned to Wheeling to teach 4th grade.  Fast forward 16 years, she has taught 2nd, 3rd and now is happy to have found her calling as a Kindergarten teacher.  Krisi loves that she gets to pass along her love of learning to her students and seeing the growth her young students make in one year is amazing!  Outside of school, Krisi enjoys reading, listening to music, getting away to the mountains, and most of all spending time with her husband and their three children, Elliana (7), Adilyn (5), and Reese (1).

My name is Krysten Rodgers and I am a former student in APS. I graduated from Hinkley High School in 2002. I have two children and a dog that I adore. Together we hike, swim, fish, spend time with family and friends, bake, cook and try new foods.  I am entering my third year here at Wheeling elementary but am entering my eleventh year in the district. I am the youngest of four girls and have started living my bucket list including seeing the ocean, traveling, skydiving and seeing as many concert venues Colorado has to offer!

Jessica Medina

My name is Jessica Medina. I graduated from CSU, Pueblo, CO with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work in May 1997, then went on to receive my Elementary Education Teaching License in November 2010. Prior to teaching Kindergarten at Wheeling Elementary, I taught English Language Learners for 9 years at Granada Public School. This will be my fourth year teaching Kindergarten. I have a 19-year-old daughter named Samantha, who graduated from high school last year. In my spare time I like to cook, read, listen to music, and spend time with friends and family.

Jena Dollinger moved to Colorado when she was 4. Growing up Jena attended all APS schools and graduated from Aurora Central High School. Her love and passion for kids lead her to get a job at Clyde Miller P-8 right out of high school. After spending a year there, she then spent 8 years at Vaughn Elementary in the preschool program. She is currently at Wheeling Elementary. Outside of work, Jena has three boys. They love outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and going to the park.

Shawna Ryan

Shawna Ryan is from Lakewood Colorado. She graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She then went to Metro to earn her teaching license in Elementary Education. Shawna loves the Wheeling community. She has taught at Wheeling Elementary for over 15 years. She taught kindergarten for 12 years before moving to 1st Grade. In her spare time Shawna likes to play with her nieces and nephews, watch college basketball, and spend time with friends.
