Wheeling Awarded IB Status
Wheeling Elementary has earned its official designation as an IB Primary Years Program from the International Baccalaureate Organization. The designation makes Wheeling the first IB elementary school in APS.
As part of the authorization process, Wheeling has offered a trial Primary Years Program since the 2008-09 school year. The regional IB office worked with the school to implement the program.
APS currently offers the IB Programme at Hinkley High School and the IB Middle Years Programme at Aurora Hills Middle School. IB provides students a rigorous, academically challenging curriculum focused on intercultural understanding. The programs lead to either the IB Diploma or certificates in separate subjects.
